Today is an A Day.

From Ms. E. Shepardson: Calling all artists!  Deadlines are approaching for two popular art contests.The first is “The Latino Youth Leadership Poster Contest” the deadline is November 4.The Second is the “Martin Luther King Jr. Literary & Visual Arts Contest”, the deadline is November 18.Submission forms and information are available on the bulletin board outside the art room. Or see Ms. E. Shepardson for details.

From Ms. Wall and Ms. Rosegrant:The first Library Craft Day of the year is today!  We’d love to have you come and make a Halloween spider web craft with us.  Eat your lunch quickly downstairs and then come up to the Library so you have time to craft!

From Ms. Detweiler:PTA reflections contest entries are due this Friday to Ms. Detweiler in Room 221! The theme this year is “show your voice”. The categories are visual arts, dance choreography, literature, film production, photography and music composition. Again, the theme is “show your voice”. Let’s have some fun with this contest!

From coach Curran and Coach De Bruyn Boy’s soccer try outs are this week.

All 8th graders trying out, please report to the upper turf field today!

All 7th graders trying out will report to the upper field tomorrow, Wednesday October 26th

All 6th graders trying out will report to the upper field on Thursday October 27th Please make sure you have  water. cleats, shin guard and anything else you may need for tryouts.

From Ms. Dunbar:READING BUDDIES will begin on Fridays in November!If you enjoy reading, especially reading and interacting with younger children, consider becoming a TJ Reading Buddy to 2nd graders at Fleet Elementary School. This is a Community Service opportunity that promotes Literacy in our community. Permission slips are now available in the Library.

From Ms. Russo:Here’s an update on Kickball—we have many staff and students interested in joining! Hurray! Unfortunately, we will have to delay our kickball kickoff one more week. Stay tuned…but our first meeting should be Nov 2!

From the PTA

Our next Restaurant night at Pupatella (5104 Wilson Blvd) is today, Tuesday October 25, 11:30 am to 9pm. Pupatella will donate 20% of all participating orders to raise funds for PTA programs that benefit our school community.
