2023-2024 Tryout Dates/Sports Schedules (Click Link for Schedule)

Practices are held at W-L pool.  Students go to the playground by the rec. center after school, board a bus to the pool, change into a bathing suit when they get there, then return to school via bus at approximately 4:05 PM (in time to take the late buses home).  Buses are provided after swim meets to take children home if necessary.  Students should remember to bring a bathing suit and towel on swim practice/meet days.

Notes: All students participating in sports at Jefferson can change in PE locker rooms after school.  All tryouts/practices run until approximately 4:00.

Monday

Fiber Arts Club in room 239 with Madame Moran (inger.moran@apsva.us) meets from 2:40 – 3:40.  This is a chance to hang out and create using yarn.  This includes crocheting, knitting, finger-weaving, and making bracelets.  No experience necessary!

Latin Club in Ms. Egbert’s (elizabeth.egbert@apsva.us) room 62 downstairs on the blue hallway.  This is for Latin homework/project help, studying, and playing review games.

Tuesday

Model United Nations meets with Mr. Clark (nam.clark2@apsva.us) in room 80 (near the cafeteria) from 2:40 – 3:30.  This is the perfect opportunity for students who like to problem solve and work collaboratively with others while learning about global issues.

Math Counts is on Tuesdays with Mr. Carter (zachary.carter@aspva.us) in room 255 (upstairs on the front hallway near the blue doors).  This is a club open to students in all grades who like math and competitive problem solving.

Kingdom Talk Bible Club is in Ms. Ferrara’s (jaquelina.ferrara@apsva.us) room 233 (upstairs back hallway) on Tuesdays from 2:35 – 3:35 PM.  Also hosted by Ms. Boda (heather.boda@apsva.us)

Wednesday

Chess Club meets 2:40 – 3:30 in Mr. Wintersteen’s (jeremy.wintersteen@apsva.us) room 111 (near home ec. kitchen and elevator downstairs). TAB Book Club meets during lunches every other Wednesday in the library.

TAB Book Club meets during lunches every other Wednesday in the library.  Students should see Ms. Wall (kirsten.wall@apsva.us) for a lunch pass to get their lunch first and come to the library.  The TAB (Teen Advisory Board) investigates new books and offers input regarding available library selections.

Guitar Club/String Practice Club meets on Wednesdays in Ms. Gomez’s (kristin.gomez@apsva.us) room 126 from 2:40 – 3:15 in the fine arts wing.  Students wishing to learn how to play the guitar (beginners) or string players wanting practice are welcome.

Thursday

Art Club in the Art Room with Ms. Shepardson, (emily.shepardson@apsva.us) 2:40 – 3:30.  Materials are provided, students must provide the inspiration.

Gay/Straight Alliance meets on Thursdays from 2:40 – 3:40 in Ms. Leonberger’s (kaila.leonberger@apsva.us) room 284 (at the very end of the main hallway upstairs).  All students are welcome to join this supportive community.

Friday

Anime/Manga Club meets with Ms. Egbert (elizabeth.egbert@apsva.us) in Mr. Jeon’s room 115 (downstairs in Stingray area) on Fridays from 2:40 – 3:50. Students who are into anime or enjoy reading manga have found their spot here.  All are welcome!  Note: As of right now there are no late buses on Fridays, so transportation home needs to be arranged by the student and their family.

Gardening Club meets on Fridays (Sept – Oct, Apr – May) at 2:40 by the garden outside the back door (in the fence near the little blue shed).  Come out and help Ms. Dunbar (enid.dunbar@apsva.us) and others maintain the garden so we can donate vegetables to AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Center).

Reading Buddies meets on Fridays with Ms. Dunbar (enid.dunbar@apsva.us), Ms. Waring (grace.waring@apsva.us), and Ms. Ayoub (lee.ayoub@apsva.us) in room 260 right after school.  Students walk across the campus to Fleet Elementary and read books to elementary schoolers.

Ongoing Clubs (No Set Schedule)

TJMS Car Club meets regularly to do fun stuff that is car related.  Of particular interest are the local DMV area car shows that occur on weekends during the warmer months.  Send Mr. Siegel (jeremy.siegel@apsva.us) a message on Canvas if you would be interested in joining.
