Sports and After School 2025-2026

2025-2026 Tryout Dates (Click on Links Below For Game/Match Schedules)

Notes: All students participating in sports at Jefferson can change in PE locker rooms after school.  All tryouts/practices run until approximately 4:00.  Practices are M-Th. after school.  Late buses are available to take students to their bus stop after tryouts, practices, and games/matches end.  If your student needs to take a late bus have them come to the cafeteria when their tryouts/practices are over.

Monday

Fiber Arts Club in room 219 with Ms. Gibson-Williams ([email protected]), and Ms. Jenks ([email protected]) meets from 2:40 – 3:40.  This is a chance to hang out and create using yarn.  This includes crocheting, knitting, finger-weaving, and making bracelets.  No experience necessary!

Art Club in the Art Room with Ms. Shepardson, ([email protected]) 2:40 – 3:30.  Materials are provided, students must provide the inspiration.

Model United Nations meets with Mr. Clark ([email protected]) in room 80 (near the cafeteria) from 2:40 – 3:40.  This is the perfect opportunity for students who like to problem solve and work collaboratively with others while learning about global issues.

Tuesday

Football (two-hand touch) 2:40 – 4:00 PM with Mr. Fernandez ([email protected]) on back half of the lower field out back.  Co-ed drop-in.

Study Hall in Library From 2:40 – 3:30 Assistance is provided to students with homework

Anime/Manga Club meets with Ms. Egbert ([email protected]) in room 219 on Tuesdays from 2:40 – 3:50. Students who are into anime or enjoy reading manga have found their spot here.  All are welcome!

Board Game/Chess Club meets with Mr. De Hoog ([email protected]) in his room 264.

Latinas Leading Tomorrow with Ms. Martinez ([email protected]) meets on 1st and 3rd Tuesday in room 238 from 2:40-3:30 PM.

Wednesday

Jefferson Climate Club (Select, Announced Wednesdays) – 2:40 – 3:40 with Mr. Malinosky ([email protected]) Do you want to help the earth? Reduce pollution? Learn about ways to fight climate change? Then join the Jefferson Climate Club on Mondays after school in room 219, Ms. Leonberger’s room.

TAB Book Club meets during lunches every other Wednesday in the library.  Students should see Ms. Wall ([email protected]) for a lunch pass to get their lunch first and come to the library.  The TAB (Teen Advisory Board) investigates new books and offers input regarding available library selections.

Jazz Band meets on Wednesdays in room 126 from 2:40 – 3:40 in the fine arts wing.  First interest meeting is 10/15 for rhythm instruments (guitar, piano, etc), wind instruments interest meeting is  10/22.

Thursday

Gay/Straight Alliance meets on Thursdays from 2:40 – 3:40 in Ms. Leonberger’s ([email protected]) room 219.  All students are welcome to join this supportive community.

Drop in Gym (Basketball and Indoor Soccer) 2:30 – 4:00 PM

Dungeons and Dragons Club – meets Thursdays 2:40 – 4:0o PM in Mr. Coopersmith’s ([email protected]) room 271. All students are welcome no experience needed.

Friday

Gardening Club meets on Fridays (Sept – Oct, Apr – May) at 2:40 by the garden outside the back door (in the fence near the little blue shed).  Come out and help Ms. Dunbar ([email protected]) and others maintain the garden so we can donate vegetables to AFAC (Arlington Food Assistance Center).

Reading Buddies meets on Fridays with Ms. Dunbar ([email protected]), Ms. Waring ([email protected]), and Ms. Ayoub ([email protected]) in room 260 right after school.  Students walk across the campus to Fleet Elementary and read books to elementary schoolers.
