Academic Planning
Academic Planning is designed to assist students and families in successfully navigating the PreK-12 school experience in Arlington Public Schools (APS). School Counselors meet with students to discuss course options, high school credits and monitor academic progression.

January 17th – High School visits @ TJMS
January 22nd – February 9th – Rising 6th Grade Visits @ various Elementary Schools.
January 28th – 8th grade students notified of lottery results for Option Schools
February – Rising 8th Grade Academic in English 7
February 7th – Rising 7th Grade Academic Planning Assembly.
February 21st – Last day to return all Course Request Forms.

Graduation Requirements
To graduate from high school, students must meet the minimum requirements for either the Standard Diploma or Advanced Studies Diploma as outlined below. A standard credit is earned when a student passes a course. A verified credit is earned when a student passes a course and either the associated end-of-course SOL test or a performance assessment in history and social sciences.
