Deadlines are approaching for two popular art contests.The first is “The Latino Youth Leadership Poster Contest” the deadline is November 4.The Second is the “Martin Luther King Jr. Literary & Visual Arts Contest”, the deadline is November 18.Submission forms and information are available on the bulletin board outside the art room. From Ms. Wall and Ms. Rosegrant:TAB Club meets today during lunches in the Library. Please get your lunch quickly. Bring your lunch and iPad to TAB. 6th graders: we will miss you today. Have a great time at Mt. Vernon, and we’ll see you next time! The Library is closed after school today for a staff meeting.
From Ms. Detweiler:PTA reflections contest entries are due this Friday to Ms. Detweiler in Room 221! The theme this year is “show your voice”. The categories are visual arts, dance choreography, literature, film production, photography and music composition. Again, the theme is “show your voice”. Let’s have some fun with this contest!

From Ms. Dunbar Attention Garden Club Members: THIS FRIDAY is our last official meeting for Fall Garden Club. This week we will be doing a number of tasks to help us close down the garden, and we will be collecting more native pollinator seeds to package and share with our community. COMPOST CLUB continues all year long, and SPRING GARDEN CLUB resumes in mid-March or early-April!
From Ms. Dunbar & Ms. Waring: READING BUDDIES will begin on Fridays in November!If you enjoy reading, especially reading and interacting with younger children, consider becoming a TJ Reading Buddy to 2nd graders at Fleet Elementary School. This is a Community Service opportunity that promotes Literacy in our community. Permission slips are now available in the Library.
