Today is a B Day.
From Coach Sam:The girls ultimate frisbee team played their first game yesterday at Gunston Middle School.Our 7th and 8th grade team won with a score of 10 to 0.Our 6th and 7th grade team won with a score of 7 to 1.Great job yellowjackets! Practice today after school. Our next game is tomorrow here at TJ against Swanson.
From Ms. Detweiler:The PTA reflections contest has begun. The theme this year is “show your voice”. Entries are due October 28th to Mrs. Detweiler in room 221. The categories are visual arts, dance choreography, literature, film production, photography and music composition. Again, the theme is “show your voice”. Let’s have some fun with this contest!
From Mr. Clark:Good morning TJ! The Model UN Club had its first conference at Horton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland and our delegates represented TJ exceptionally well. We had only 10 delegates but 4 won awards for their participation in their respective committees:Kidus Behailu and Jaxon Grupenhoff for Verbal Commendation , HeeDoh Kang won Perfect Position Paper, and TJ’s very own Vice-President of the SCA Sabrina Yimer won Outstanding Delegate in her committee!Please congratulate all the MUN delegates for representing TJ so well last Saturday.If you are interested in TJMUN, come by Mr. Clark’s room #80 to get more information.
The annual TJMS Harvest Festival is this Thursday, October 20th from 6 to 9pm. Join us for food, fun, a performance by the Chorus, and a movie. We will have fire pits to keep us warm, food trucks with seafood, pizza, and Central American food, and apple cider and hot chocolate to drink. Join us!
From Ms. Perry:Do you enjoy watching and talking about good movies? Interested in meeting up with other TJ students for popcorn and a movie?
TJMS Movie Club will get together twice a month on Thursdays in room 224 from 2:40 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. If you would like to join us stop by room 224 to pick up a permission slip or see Mr. Siegel and bring it back signed before our first meeting Thursday, October 27th. It’s going to be a “Spooky “Movie Day!
From Ms. Dunbar:READING BUDDIES will begin on Fridays in November!
If you enjoy reading, especially reading and interacting with younger children, consider becoming a TJ Reading Buddy to 2nd graders at Fleet Elementary School. This is a Community Service opportunity that promotes Literacy in our community. Permission slips are now available in the Library.

Please mark your calendar for our next Restaurant night at Pupatella (5104 Wilson Blvd) on Tuesday October 25, 11:30 am to 9pm. Pupatella will donate 20% of all participating orders to raise funds for PTA programs that benefit our school community.
