Today is a B Day.
From Ms. Detweiler:The PTA reflections contest has begun. The theme this year is “show your voice”. Entries are due October 28th to Mrs. Detweiler in room 221. The categories are visual arts, dance choreography, literature, film production, photography and music composition. Again, the theme is “show your voice”. Let’s have some fun with this contest!
From coach Curran and Coach De Bruyn Boy’s soccer try outs will begin next week on Tuesday October 25th.
All 8th graders trying out, please report to the upper turf field Tuesday October 25th.
All 7th graders trying out will report to the upper field on Wednesday October 26th
All 6th graders trying out will report to the upper field on Thursday October 27th
Please make sure you have water. cleats, shin guard and anything else you may need for tryouts.
From Ms. Dunbar: Attention Garden Club members: we will not meet this week because of Conferences on Friday. However. if any of you would like to give garden tours for Harvest Fest, please arrive by 6:00pm so tours can take place before dark. The annual TJMS Harvest Festival is tonight, Thursday, October 20th from 6 to 9pm. Join us for food, fun, a performance by the Chorus, and a movie. We will have fire pits to keep us warm, food trucks with seafood, pizza, and Central American food, and apple cider and hot chocolate to drink. Join us!
From Ms. Dunbar:READING BUDDIES will begin on Fridays in November!If you enjoy reading, especially reading and interacting with younger children, consider becoming a TJ Reading Buddy to 2nd graders at Fleet Elementary School. This is a Community Service opportunity that promotes Literacy in our community. Permission slips are now available in the Library.

From Ms. Russo:Join us for Game Groups today during 6th and 7th grade lunch! Choose from Uno, Pictionary, Apples to Apples, Kids Against Maturity, and more!!We will meet every Thursday in Room 106.Come get a pass from Ms. Black or Ms. Russo. Everyone is welcome!Also, here’s an update on Kickball—we have many staff and students interested in joining! Hurray! Unfortunately, we will have to delay our kickball kickoff one more week. Stay tuned…but our first meeting should be Nov 2!

Please mark your calendar for our next Restaurant night at Pupatella (5104 Wilson Blvd) on Tuesday October 25, 11:30 am to 9pm. Pupatella will donate 20% of all participating orders to raise funds for PTA programs that benefit our school community. Remember that Student-led conferences are tomorrow. Monday is a holiday for Diwali. We’ll be back on Tuesday.
