Buenos Dias Yellow Jackets, Ms. Martinez here with the Latinx Quote of the Week “La Latina en mi es una brasa que arde para siempre.” “The Latina in me is an ember that blazes forever.” This quote belongs to Sonia Sotomayor she is the first Hispanic and the third woman to serve as an Associate Justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. The quote was used during a speech to Hispanic law students at Hofstra University in 1996. This was her way of expressing what being Latina meant. This gives me such a powerful sense of belonging and identity as a Latina woman myself.
