Today is a B Day!
From Ms. Wall:Have you heard? All Library books are now overdue! Huh? I’ve been living under a rock. I had no idea! How can I figure out what I have checked out?Well, you could look at the My Stuff section in Destiny Discover. Or you could ask your TA teacher since they got an email from Ms. Wall on Sunday night. Or you could also go and ask someone in the Library during TA (before testing starts in the Library)!I will figure out what I still have out and then look in my locker and at home so I can bring it back right away to help my librarians. Thanks for reminding me!
Today, right after the announcements, Mr. Malinosky will introduce the SCA elections for current 6th and 7th graders to elect officers for next year’s SCA. Candidates will introduce themselves and give their speeches. 8th grade TAs may turn off the news if they’d like.
From Ms. Boda and Señora Ferrara: There will be Kingdom Talk in Señora Ferrara’s room after school today.
Here’s a special announcement: Hello, I’m Leo from the GSA, and today I’ll be talking about RuPal, a successful celebrity in the gay community. Well known for RuPal’s drag race, and other projects such as his music, he is a drag queen, one of the most famous ones. His most successful project, Drag Race, has over 16 seasons as of 2024. It has earned several awards, including 14 primetime Emmy awards, three GLAAD Media Awards, a Critic’s Choice Television Award, two Billboard Music Awards, and a Tony Award. He is also a large queer activist, as he has spoken up about queer and women’s rights. He has spoken up about the importance of voting, as he urged people to vote on National Voter Registration Day, as many LGBTQ2IA+ people do not vote. Secondly, he has spoken up about anti-drag bills, with too many passed under the lie that they are “Harmful to minors.” Lastly, he has raised money for AIDS treatment, and uses his platform to discuss important topics, like women’s empowerment and racial discrimination. RuPal is a walking example of how someone can still be openly queer and still be successful in life and their career.
From the TJMS GSA – June 3rd through June 7th is our annual TJMS Pride Spirit Week! All week long we will have GSA representatives to share an LGBTQ+ community member who makes us proud. We will also have 2 spirit dress up days – on Tuesday June 4th wear your pride flag colors or ally -wear. On Friday, June 7th wear your rainbow gear! We will also be having a bake sale after school on Thursday, June 6th to benefit the Trans Lifeline. Last year we raised over $200 for the Trevor Project so let’s make this years fundraiser another success!”
