From Ms. Black and Mr. Spencer Attention 6th and 7th graders. Please note that your course request form is due to your counselor NO LATER THAN this Friday February 23. Please make sure to turn in this form to your counselor or English teacher by Friday so that you have priority consideration for your electives.
From Ms. Bennett: Get ready to Leap Into Literacy on February 29 with a visit from author Lulu Delacre. At 1 pm she’ll be here at TJMS talking to 6th graders about her book Us in Progress. Then, later that night, all students are invited back with your whole family to write your own story with some inspiration and guidance as LuLu Delacre returns to lead a family writing workshop in the Alice West Fleet Cafeteria. Food trucks will be out front from 5:30-6:30, and the writing workshop will begin at 6:30. If you have questions, ask Ms. Bennett, Ms. Wall, or Ms. Zehren

K: Hi, I’m Cate .N: And I’m also Cate. K: And we’re doing our Community Project to spread awareness about mental health in retirement homes. We’re doing this by writing cards to people in retirement homes. N: Mental health problems among older people are often under-recognized and under-treated. This makes people reluctant to seek help. K: Around one quarter of elderly people are affected by social isolation and loneliness. N: We’re looking for cards in both English and Spanish. They will be due Friday, March 1st.K: TA Teachers, make sure to put the cards in Mr. Malinosky’s mailbox by the end of the day on Friday, March 1st.
