From Ms. Zehren:We will be having a Movie Night in the Library on Thursday, May 2nd, from 2:45-5:00 pm. We will be showing Turtles All the Way Down, based on the bestselling book by John Green. Please pick up a permission form in the Library and talk to Ms. Z for more info.

From your PTA: On Tuesday, April 30th the delicious and generous Wendy’s (3431 Columbia Pike) is donating back 20% of Dine-In, Takeout, Drive thru & Pick up orders to support a great cause — Thomas Jefferson Middle School PTA! From Ms. Vogel and Ms. Zehren-Are you interested in Dungeons and Dragons?wanted to try? We will be having a general interest meeting tomorrow, April 23rd, after school in the Library from 2:35-3:00 pm. You don’t need to be an expert Dungeon Master to play, so please stop by! Can’t make it to the meeting but still interested? Please scan the QR code on Ms. Vogel’s door, room 280 to fill out the interest form.

From Ms. T Congratulations to the 21 Jefferson students who performed at the District 12 Solo & Ensemble Festival this past Saturday at Rachel Carson Middle School.  Two large ensembles performed in exhibition. Those two groups were:

  • The Trombone Quartet of Max Runyan, Ira Jones, Micah Morton, and Darian Priddy
  • The Mixed Instrument Quintet of AJ Townes, Colleen Bett, Quinn Hampton, Joel Lizarazu-Ampuero and Maya Kaufman

Additionally, for the first time in recent memory the following 10 solos and duets earned SUPERIOR ratings. This is the highest possible rating available for music students.

  • Genna Devitt – Trumpet Solo
  • Jaxon Lamothe – Horn Solo
  • Jason Etue – Horn Solo (with Aaron Evans, student accompanist)
  • Charlie Culbertson – Trumpet Solo
  • Noah Hammerman & Senai Habtemariam – Trumpet Duet
  • Amory Monson – Saxophone Solo
  • Rainbow Alisuag & Layla Mustafa – Flute Duet
  • Ayush Nigal – Trumpet Solo
  • Ayush Nigal & Coleman Jessup – Mixed Duet
  • Coleman Jessup – Clarinet Solo

Please congratulate ALL of these students for their outstanding performances. We look forward to featuring many of these students on our upcoming Spring Band Concert (May 8) and Spring Music Assemblies (May 10)! From the track and field coaches,Today is our last dual meet. It will be here at TJ against Kenmore. On Thursday, field event athletes from all APS middle schools will be here for the county field events. Come out and support your fellow yellow jackets and see who really is the best of the best. Good luck to those competing! Here’s a special announcement:This Friday, April 26 at 5:30pm we will have our International Night with dancers, food trucks and more outside by the garden.International Night will feature our Mongolian musicians, Bolivian dancers, African drummers, Irish dancers, and our own Orchestra. We will have a Henna station, a Cinco de Mayo food truck, an ice cream truck, and pizza. Come out and join us!
