Jefferson Middle Celebrates PRIDE Month

Jefferson GSA Quilt Featured on National Mall

As World Pride kicks off in Washington, D.C., and Pride Month approaches, Thomas Jefferson Middle School’s Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) was part of a powerful display of unity and visibility.

  • The student group created a handmade quilt square that was featured in the American Civil Liberties Union’s “Freedom to Be” installation on the National Mall.
  • The campaign highlights “joy, family, and transgender rights” through a national art initiative coordinated by the ACLU.
  • Jefferson’s quilt square reflects themes of inclusion, pride and community, designed by GSA students earlier this spring.

The square was displayed alongside hundreds of others from across the country, forming a large-scale quilt installation.
