Morning Announcements June 3,2024

Today is an A Day!

From Ms. Wall:Applications to be part of the Morning Announcements team next year are due today!  Bring them signed and completed to the Library today.Auditions are right after school today in the Library.  If you have any issues, you must talk with us today! All Library books are now overdue!  They need to be returned, or paid for to replace, as soon as possible!  Overdue reports are being sent to TA teachers.  TA teachers—please talk with each of your students and help them figure out a way to get their books taken care of.

From the TJMS GSA – June 3rd through June 7th is our annual TJMS Pride Spirit Week! All week long we will have GSA representatives to share an LGBTQ+ community member who makes us proud. We will also have 2 spirit dress up days – on Tuesday June 4th wear your pride flag colors or ally -wear. On Friday, June 7th wear your rainbow gear! We will also be having a bake sale after school on Thursday, June 6th to benefit the Trans Lifeline. Last year we raised over $200 for the Trevor Project so let’s make this years fundraiser another success!”

Here’s a special announcement: I’m ___:“Today, I am going to talk about Megan Rapinoe, professional soccer player and LGBTQ+ community member and advocate who is known for her craft style of play, and activism off the pitch. Some of Megan’s achievements are:- Named Best FIFA Women’s Player in 2019.- Won gold with the national team at the London Summer Olympics (2012), the FIFA Women’s World Cup (2015), and the FIFA Women’s World Cup (2019).- Received the Board of Directors Award from the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center,-Included in Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2020.  – Received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Joe Biden, July 2022.”

From: Ms. T, Mr. Banach, and Ms. Gomez: Congratulations to the TJMS music students and staff for a fantastic Spring Trip to the Music in the Parks Competition this past Friday!   All of the performing groups did an OUTSTANDING job in the competition:

  • Intermediate Orchestra – 1st place String Orchestra II Division, Excellent Rating
  • Concert Band – 1st place Concert Band II Division, Excellent Rating
  • Chorale – 1st place Mixed Choir I Division, Excellent Rating
  • Best Student Accompanist – Aaron E.
  • Best Vocalist – Addie S.
  • Advanced Orchestra – 1st place String Orchestra I Division, SUPERIOR Rating
  • Symphonic Band – 1st place Concert Band I Division, SUPERIOR Rating

The Concert Band was just 0.75 away from a Superior Rating (and received one from one judge)Orchestra and Symphonic Band placed 2nd among all Middle School/Junior High School performing groups (and were both within 1 point of the top score!) While we are incredibly proud of our students’ musical performances, we are even MORE proud of our students’ overall attitudes and behavior throughout the trip. Thank you to the many staff members, adult volunteers, and chaperones who made our trip possible!
