Today is an A Day.

From Ms. E Shepardson:Please congratulate the following students.  Their artwork was recognized in the Arlington region for the Scholastics Art and Writing Awards.

From the PTAPlease come to Bingo Night to have some fun and help the PTA raise funds for our school community! It will be held on Thursday, February 9th at 6:30 pm at the Mini Gym.  The PTA is also seeking student volunteers for this event. Student volunteer roles include Bingo Night host, pizza sale, and bingo card sale. If interested, please sign you up using the signup genius link on the PTA website, or contact Mr. Siegel. Now here’s Ms. Black:Good morning. This is Ms. Black, your 6th grade school counselor, and today is the first day of National School Counseling Week. The theme of this year’s week is “School Counselors:Helping Students Dream Big.” Did you know that our number one goal, as a school counselor, is to help you succeed?Whatever you need to be successful at school – whether that’s learning how to stay motivated to complete your work, having positive relationships with your fellow students, advocating for yourself or overcoming barriers – we are here for it.You’ve probably heard of actor and producer Tyler Perry. He said, “I don’t think the dreams die.I think people give up. I think it gets too hard.” Sometimes achieving your dreams IS hard, but I’m here to help you not give up. As a school counselor, we want to help you achieve your dreams. What are your dreams? How can we help you make a plan to achieve them? Let’s talk about it. Have a great Monday!

From Ms. Burton:“In honor of School Counseling Week, each student will have a chance to win a prize each day.Pick up a bingo card, located outside of the Counseling Suite to play!Please turn it in to your grade level counselor’s mailbox by 2:00 p.m. each day to WIN! Good luck!”

From Mr. Clark:Good morning TJMS!The Model UN Club continues to show why Thomas Jefferson Middle School is truly the Best of the Best! Only three Yellow Jackets went to Washington, DC this past Saturday for another MUN conference and ALL THREE WON AWARDS! Please congratulate these TJ students for their excellent work in their respective committees:Nareh Wilson won Commendation, Noah Hammerman won Outstanding Delegate, and HeeDoh Kang won the top award in his committee, Best Delegate.Again, congratulate these fellow Yellow Jackets for representing TJMS so well!

From Ms. Wall and Ms. Rosegrant:Overdue reports were distributed to TA teachers.Students—please find and return your overdue books.  If you are still using a book, bring it to the library to renew it.  If you have any questions, please come talk with us in the library.Teachers—please keep reminding students about these books.  We could really use your help checking in with students to help them remember!

From Ms. Bennett:TJMS Writers and Artists: Now that the first semester is over, it’s time for the Winter edition of the Jefferson Journal of Art and Writing! If you have poems, stories, art, photography, or other work you are proud of from this semester and want to publish, please share it with the world! To submit your work you can go to tinyurl.com/TJMSlit and click “submit your work” or you can send it to Ms. Bennett at Katlyn.bennett@apsva.us. Submissions for the winter edition are due on Friday February 10.

From Ms. Wall and Ms. Rosegrant:TAB Club members:If you didn’t get your permission slip yesterday for our All-TAB author visit, please come get one from the Library today!
