Welcome Back
Dear TJMS Yellow Jacket,
Are you ready to start school on August 28, 2023? I sure am and I hope you are too! Whether you are a rising sixth grader entering middle school for the time, a seventh grader with one year of middle school behind you, or an eighth grader facing your last year of middle school, the 2023-2024 school year will mark a new beginning. I encourage every Yellow Jacket to embrace our TJMS mission statement and long-standing traditions.
Our Thomas Jefferson Yellow Jacket mission statement is: “Learning together to understand and improve ourselves, our future and our world”. Our mission statement and traditions encourage us to create a dynamic school climate where we Learn, Grow, and Act Together. I have no doubt you will uphold our TJMS mission and traditions which have historically enabled us to be “The Best of the Best, Better Than the Rest, At All Times”! Your TA (Teacher Advisory) assignment and complete class schedule was available on August 21, 2023 in Student/ParentVue. Your TA period will be extended the first week of school. During extended TA you will have opportunities to participate in activities aimed at instilling a sense of school community and pride, learning school logistics and becoming acquainted with our TJMS staff. During the first week of school your teachers will tell you about supplies needed for specific classes. However, the following items will get you started:
- 1 Backpack or book bag
- 1.5” to 2” ring binder
- Durable pocket folder, 3 hole-punched (to place homework to do and completed)
- 7 Durable subject dividers
- 1 Large pencil pouch for three-ring binder packed with:
- box of pencils
- a ball point pen
- small sharpener that holds shavings
- good quality eraser
- 2 highlighters (any color)
- 3 glue sticks
- headphones/earbuds
Our staff is committed to making your school year a success; however, we need your help. We need you to arrive at school on time each day. We need you to bring your charger, or have a fully charged iPad each day. We need you to come to school with an “I can and will do this!” attitude. Your success is TJMS’s success. I believe you have what it takes to be successful. Enjoy your last days of summer vacation, and on August 28th come ready to do your part to make the 2023-2024 school year the Best of the Best!
Sincerely,
Ms. Boggan |
