From Ms. Dunbar:Attention all Garden Club members: We will finally have another good-weather Friday this week! Please join us in the garden so that we can continue prepping soil for planting. There will also be some flower bulbs and seeds to plant this week. Join us!
Here’s a special announcement:Hi! I’m Sabrina Yimer. Just a couple days ago was the last day of April. Along with April’s many titles; Arab American Awareness month, Autism Awareness Month and many more, April is also National Child Abuse Prevention month. Child abuse, whether physical or sexual is a serious issue that has been often ignored and has been a large big contributor to mental health issues such as depression, bipolar disorder and suicidal attempts. Helps support the cause to prevent child abuse by bringing your money and buying baked goods tomorrow at the end of the day. All revenue will go to Families Forward Virginia, a nonprofit organization that works towards stopping child abuse, neglect and poverty within Virginia.
From Saleh Sawez:Hello, my name is Saleh. I’m selling snacks and food after school to raise money for refugees because of my community project. I’ll be outside after school today. Attention all grade level TA’s. Check your grade level TA course and go to announcements to take the survey Mr.Malinosky has sent for an 8th grader’s community project.
From Ms. Wall:The Library is closed after school today because of the early release. Have an Musical Early Release Wednesday!
From Lucas Retzke:Attention all students:Do you want to support dogs in your community? Donate dog food by the main office, through Thursday, to help support man’s best friend. This supports an 8th grade community project.
Rocco Kramer, Jordi Umana, and Caio MC are starting a food drive to combat food insecurity in the Arlington area. All foods will be donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center. Please bring in non-perishables like canned veggies, beans, and cereals and donate them to the buckets today. The buckets are located in the back end of the eighth grade hallway; if you have trouble finding them ask the front office.Please donate, Thank you so much!!!! Now here’s a special announcement:Hi, we are a group of students, Edom Bedane, Oleg Kaitov, and Yeabsira Bekele. For our community project, we are talking about homelessness in Arlington, and we wanted to donate to PathForward, formerly A-SPAN, which is a shelter for homeless people, to help the homeless people. In order to do that, we need your help. On Monday, you will notice boxes around the school labeled “Donate here to PathForward” either with a label “Books” or “Clothes”. Could you please donate any books to the boxes labeled “Books”. This will then be given to PathForward for their library. Could you please donate formal or casual adult clothes to the boxes labeled “Clothes”, preferably formal clothes. Also, if you can, please donate white socks. And please, do not donate underwear or bras. These will then be given to PathForward’s clothing storage. The boxes will be there for one week from May 1st – May 5th. Please bring to the school what you can to donate. There will also be posters around the school. Thank you very much!
From Preontee Barua:Please donate to the boxes around the school with canned food and cereal, make sure they are not expired or opened. The food raised in this food drive is going straight to AFAC to help those in need of food. Thank you!
