Reminders about the attached Thomas Jefferson Recreation Center:
- The level of supervision at the recreation center is significantly lower than APS normal practices. Additionally, the recreation center is open to all Arlington County residents at all times.
- When not participating in a school sponsored activity or sport (such as intramurals or athletic practices), the level of oversight and supervision provided to children on our fields and grounds is comparable to that of any public park. Children involved in altercations or incidents in this situation should expect to be dealt with through Arlington Parks and Recreation and the Arlington County Police.
- The entire gymnasium at Thomas Jefferson reverts to recreation center supervision and access control at 4:00 PM, except for game days and other events.
- Most Thomas Jefferson Middle School after-school activities and sports (with the exception of game days) end at 4:00 PM. Late buses leave at 4:21 PM.
- Please talk to your Yellow Jacket every day to inquire about their after-school plans. If they aren’t participating in a school sponsored activity or sport, please be mindful of the information above.· After school options and procedures can be found under the “Activities” section of the Thomas Jefferson Middle School website.
- Concerns involving situations at the recreation center should be directed to the rec at (703) 228 – 5920. Additionally, more serious incidents and situations should be reported to the Arlington County Police at (703) 558 – 2222.
