Tomorrow, on Thursday, October 31st, the theme for the day for Spirit week is: Spook out Drugs – Costume DayRemember no masks or anything that looks like a weapon with your costume. Here’s a special announcement about elections: Malinosky: On Monday and Tuesday we heard about candidates for federal office. Today we will hear about our candidates for the School Board and County Board in Arlington. For the School Board two offices are up. So you can vote for two of the four candidates. For the County Board there is one office up and four candidates. You have the option of raking the candidates “1, 2, 3” or simply voting for your number one.  Tory: For School Board Candidates we have four candidates and you can vote for two. First is an Independent James Vell Rives IV. He is running on promoting academics, mental health, and reducing substance abuse. Kaylee: The next School Board Candidate is Paul C. Weiss, a Democrat, running on reducing class size and less testing. Tory: The next School Board Candidate is Zuraya Tapia-Hadley, a Democrat, running on safety and quality education. Kaylee: The last School Board Candidate is Kathleen Clark, a Democrat, running on raising academic success and safety.  Tory: The first County Board Candidate is Julius D. “JD” Spain, Sr., a Democrat running onRunning on making every voice count. Kaylee: The next County Board Candidate is Juan C. Fierro, a Republican, is running on fighting crime and against missing middle housing. Tory: The next County Board Candidate is Madison F. Granger, a member of the Forward Party, running on finding common ground on housing. Kaylee: The last County Board Candidate is Audrey R. Clement , an Independent, running on tax relief. Good morning Yellow Jackets, I am Aaron, and I am Henry. We are here to talk about our community service project called “save the soldiers.” These soldiers are dying for our freedom but they aren’t getting the daily comforts we all enjoy. We will have a “whatever we will call it” after school on Thursday the 31st. We will be collecting things Such as food and toiletries. We look forward to seeing you there.  Here’s a special announcement (GSA): From the TJMS GSA: We will be hosting a slayful Halloween movie screening after-school on Thursday, October 31st in Ms. Leonberger’s room, room 219. Did you know that 2012’s ParaNorman featured the first openly gay character in a mainstream animated film? ParaNorman is about a middle school student who can see ghosts, which comes in handy when his town is threatened by a horrible witch ghost!!!!!!!! So join us on Halloween after school in Ms. Leonberger’s room to watch ParaNorman! Movie starts right at 2:40 so that students can catch the late bus afterwards. Stay slayful.”  Another Community Project announcement:Heyab: Hi, my name is Heyab Nicole: And my name is Nicole Heyab: On Tuesday, October 29th and Wednesday November 6th we will be having a snack sale as a fundraiser for our community project Nicole: in awareness for breast cancer month and in recognition of child cancer There will be soda and chips sold for one dollar each Heyab: The sale will be outside of the 7th grade doors right after school Nicole: The money we raise will go towards gifts we are making for breast cancer and children’s cancer patients at the Virginia Hospital Center Both: See you there!  From the PTA – The PTA reflections contest is coming to a close. Entries are due tomorrow, Thursday, October 31st to Ms. Detweiler in Room 221.  The theme this year is “accepting imperfection”. The categories are visual arts, dance choreography, literature, film production, photography and music composition. Again, the theme is “accepting imperfection”. Entries are due October 31st and should be turned in to Ms. Detweiler in room 221.
