ANNOUNCEMENTS Today is an A Day.

From Coach Busby: The Boys Basketball interest meeting is today after school in Mr. Busby’s room 283.  Tryouts will begin tomorrow for 6th grade, Wed Oct 18th for 7th grade, and Thurs Oct 19th for 8th grade.  Tryouts begin immediately after school in the gym and run until 4:00 PM.

From Ms. Dunbar and Ms. Waring: Reading Buddies is back for 2023-24!This year we will be reading with Fleet Elementary First Graders instead of Second Graders. We will begin on the first Friday in November and continue through the last Friday in February. Students from all 3 grade levels are welcome to participate. Everyone who participates needs to fill out and bring back a permission form. Forms will be available for pick-up in the Library beginning this Wednesday. Reading Buddies is a fun and relaxing way to end the week. Consider joining us!

From SCA: Hey, everyone! Let’s make our school a brighter place together! Join us for UNITY DAY Chalk the Walk after school on Wednesday, October 18, outside the grade level doors. We’ll spread positivity, unity, and creativity with colorful chalk art. Be there and be a part of something great!

From Student Services: Good morning Yellowjackets ! Today, we have an important message about why we wear orange. Wearing orange shows our  commitment to unity and acceptance. It’s a color that symbolizes a world without bullying, where everyone is treated with kindness and respect. So, join us in wearing orange to stand up against bullying and make our school a safer and more inclusive place for all. Let’s show our unity in orange on October 18!

From Mr. Clark: Good morning TJMS!The Jefferson IB Model UN Club participated in our first MUN conference in Bethesda, Maryland this Saturday and two Yellow Jackets took home awards in their respective committees. HeeDoh Kang won OUTSTANDING DELEGATE in his committee, and Jaxon Grupenhoff took the BEST DELEGATE award in his committee. Please congratulate them both for showing others how we are “the best of the best!”Finally, if you are interested in Model UN, we have meetings every Tuesday after school in room 80.Have a great week!

From Ms. Wall: Study Hall is Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday after school in the Library. If you would like a quiet place to get your homework done before you go home, please come to the Library right after school and sign in.  A teacher will be here to help, and the Library is open until 3:30pm.  You can walk home or get picked up then, or you can then go wait for the late bus in the commons with Mr. Siegel.
