For our community project, we are talking about homelessness in Arlington, and we wanted to donate to PathForward, formerly A-SPAN, which is a shelter for homeless people, to help the homeless people. In order to do that, we need your help. On Monday, you will notice boxes around the school labeled “Donate here to PathForward” either with a label “Books” or “Clothes”. Could you please donate any books to the boxes labeled “Books”. This will then be given to PathForward for their library. Could you please donate formal or casual adult clothes to the boxes labeled “Clothes”, preferably formal clothes.
Also, if you can, please donate white socks. And please, do not donate underwear or bras. These will then be given to PathForward’s clothing storage. The boxes will be there for one week from May 1st – May 5th. Please bring to the school what you can to donate. There will also be posters around the school. Thank you very much! Here’s a special announcement:Good morning, Thomas Jefferson students. My name is Beckett Normington and I am here to tell you about Cancer Alley. For my community project, I am working to raise awareness of the inequalities that are exacerbated by petrochemical plants being established in regions that have historically been home to minorities. I urge you to read the articles posted in the TA lesson today. PLEASE complete the survey after you are done reading; this will help me to determine the effectiveness of my community project and measure its impact. Thank you, and have a wonderful day.
