Congratulations Ms. Hooper!

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Hooper for being selected a Model of Excellence for her commitment to service that has significant and positive impact on our school. Ms. Hooper was recognized during the countywide Black History Month Celebration, Arlington: Past and Future Excellence, sponsored by the Office of Minority Achievement.

Ms. Cindy Hooper was nominated “for her on-going and dedicated work with our students and school community. Every year Ms. Hooper organizes Jefferson’s African American Read In activity.  She has been able to bring INCREDIBLE authors, politicians, and speakers to our school, such as Mr. Kwame Alexander, former DC mayor Vincent Gray, and Dr. Omekongo Dibinga. Ms. Hooper makes sure all students have access to these events and works with students to promote the event.  As a special education teacher, Ms. Hooper is able to encourage some of our struggling students to become engaged in a school activity that they otherwise may not be a part of on their own.  She makes all students feel valued and part of the Jefferson community.”
