The Virginia Junior Classical League is a statewide organization that runs events for middle and high school Latin and Greek students. The VJCL convention is a 2-day, overnight trip to Richmond, VA held each year in November. The convention offers classical competitions and fun activities to nearly 2,000 students from all parts of Virginia.
At the convention, students participate in a variety of competitions, including art and craft contests, costume contests, academic contests, and Latin or English dramatic performances. They can attend presentations on a variety of classical themes given by professors and there are demonstrations by a Roman legion reenactor group. The fun includes a dance, karaoke, a talent show, certamen trivia competitions, and other games.
